April and May are popular months for field trips. To ensure that everyone has a great experience, we ask that morning tours wrap up by 12:30 p.m. and afternoon tours begin at 1:00 p.m.
When you arrive, please have your group gather outside if the weather is nice—this makes check-in smoother and helps us prepare for a great visit! Our team will greet you, review the day’s schedule, and guide you inside. Please note, schedules may occasionally be adjusted up until the day of your tour to ensure a seamless experience for all visitors.
Running late? We understand that delays happen! Please let us know if your group is running late, and we’ll do our best to adjust. However, if you’re more than 30 minutes late, we may need to reschedule or cancel the tour.
Adult-to-Student Ratio: We require one adult for every 10 students to create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Engaged Chaperones: Adults play a key role in guiding students, helping with scavenger hunts, and ensuring a respectful, focused visit for all.
Our team is here to support you and answer any questions along the way, so you can focus on enjoying the experience with your students.
Our tour guides will lead your group through the exhibits, sharing fascinating insights and answering questions to bring each display to life. Here’s what to expect as you move through the museum:
Scavenger Hunts: We provide scavenger hunts to engage students as they explore, encouraging them to observe, interact, and make discoveries. Teachers and chaperones play a vital role by guiding students through the questions and helping them stay focused on the exhibits.
Lunch Break: If you’ve arranged to use our lunch space, our team will help your group settle in and ensure a smooth transition. Our indoor lunch space is often limited by numbers and scheduling, so we may ask that the group enjoy lunch outside, weather permitting. Please let us know if you’ll need carts to store lunches or coolers.
Visiting the Museum Store: If the Museum Store is part of your field trip schedule, students are welcome to shop in small, organized groups. The store also serves as the museum’s main entrance, so guests entering will be assisted first. Our team will coordinate with you to help manage group size and time to ensure everyone has a chance to visit.
We hope your students leave inspired and full of new discoveries! Feel free to use our scavenger hunt results and any notes from the tour to discuss the highlights of your visit back in the classroom. We’d love to hear about your experience, so don’t hesitate to share feedback with our team to help us improve future visits.
